ATMC is a nonprofit cooperative, owned by its members, and dedicated to providing outstanding service. In the early 1950s, the large telephone companies of the day were not interested in providing service to most of Brunswick County because they thought it was too rural. In an effort to bring telephone service to these areas, a determined group of local people from all walks of life banded together and worked to build their own telephone company.
In 1955, Atlantic Telephone Membership Corporation (ATMC) was chartered, not by executives working at a big corporate address somewhere far away, but by local people going door to door in Brunswick County. In 2011, ATMC expanded its reach to include rural areas in neighboring Columbus County that were without access to high speed Internet services.
Today, ATMC not only offers local telephone service, but also a wide variety of additional services, including: high speed Internet, Cable TV, Business Communications, and Security. From those early days to today, our mission has been to provide our customers with quality communications services at an excellent value backed by outstanding customer service.
We are proud of our history of service and our reputation for putting our customers first. We believe that our humble beginnings are the keys to our future success. And while serving the people of coastal North Carolina may not be a priority for the big companies, at ATMC it's our only priority.
ATMC is dedicated to excellence in customer service and providing communications services that add value to the lives of our customers and the communities we serve.
