Roger A. Cox Memorial Scholarship Awarded to Morgan Strahley
ATMC and The Brunswick Community College (BCC) Foundation recently announced that Morgan Strahley is the recipient of this year’s Roger A. Cox Memorial Scholarship. Strahley is enrolled at BCC where she is working to obtain her associate’s degree in science.
Once Strahley obtains her associates degree she plans to further her education at Ohio State University or UNCW. Thanking the donors, Morgan commented “With this scholarship I am now one step closer to my dream of becoming an orthodontist, thank you for this opportunity to further my education.”
Following his passing in July 2016, employees at ATMC began raising funds for the Roger A. Cox Endowment. A short month later, the goal of $25,000 was reached. Contributions for the fund were made by ATMC and its Board of Directors, ATMC staff and retirees, corporate partners, sister cooperatives, and friends of Roger. Roger Cox began his career at ATMC in 1990 as Accounting Supervisor, then later served as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Wireless Operations. He was promoted to General Manager in February 2015.
“We are thrilled to be able to award the Roger A. Cox Memorial Scholarship to Morgan Strahley, a well deserving student from Brunswick County. She epitomizes the spirit of the scholarship, hardworking and dedicated. We look forward to watching her excel,” says Elizabeth Wassum, Executive Director, Brunswick Community College BCC Foundation.
