ATMC Presents the Town of Holden Beach with Smart Rural Community Signs
Holden Beach, NC - ATMC recently presented Mayor Alan Holden and the Holden Beach Board of Commissioners with Smart Rural Community signs at their November meeting. The Smart Rural Community designation, given by the NTCA – The Rural Broadband Association, highlights member projects which make rural communities vibrant places to live and do business through the implementation of innovative broadband-enabled solutions. The Town of Holden Beach received this recognition because of ATMC’s $5.5 million-dollar investment which provided more than 2,500 residents and businesses on the island with access to Gigabit broadband speeds.
“We are thankful to ATMC for investing in our community,” said Mayor Alan Holden. “Having access to fiber optics provides residents here with broadband speeds comparable to what can be found in larger cities and creates a better overall experience for those visiting our area.”
Over the years, ATMC has helped to bring fiber optic technology to all Brunswick County public schools, local health care facilities, the Brunswick County 911 Communications Center, as well as, many other vital businesses and organizations. ATMC’s drive to provide cutting-edge technologies to communities served by the cooperative, along with ongoing network upgrades and expansion efforts, was a major factor in the company being named a Smart Rural Community Provider by The Rural Broadband Association.
“We are proud of the work we’ve done to bring FOCUS fiber optics to Holden Beach,” said Keith Holden, ATMC CEO. “Because of this investment in the community, we are able to recognize towns, like Holden Beach, as a Smart Rural Community and the town is able to benefit from the designation.” Holden Beach joins other towns such as Ocean Isle Beach, Oak Island and the Town of Shallotte who have also been honored as a Smart Rural Community.
Holden Beach residents and businesses are encouraged to sign up for FOCUS fiber optics by calling 910-754-4311. For more information about what ATMC is doing to increase access to broadband in Brunswick County, visit atmc.com or call 910-754-4311.
