ATMC Awards $35,000 in Community Grants

Shallotte, NC
- ATMC recently awarded community grant funds totaling $35,000 to 15 local organizations. The funds were part of the cooperative’s grant program, which has awarded $775,000 in community and education grants to 472 programs since its inception in 2006.

Al Parker, ATMC’s Board Liaison for the 2020 ATMC Grant Committee, commended the recipients on their dedication to the community. “We are excited to see how these organizations will use these funds to positively impact our community and we are proud to be able to assist them through this grant program.”
2020 Grant Awards:
  • Brunswick Christian Recovery Center – Provides security cameras for new women’s treatment center.
  • Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity – Purchases new tools for Habitat for Humanity projects.
  • Brunswick Family Assistance – Assists families with emergency funds for utility bills and deposits.
  • Brunswick Search & Rescue – Funds the purchase of 25 new radio/GPS units.
  • Going Beyond the Pink – Offers care bags for local breast cancer patients.
  • Lump to Laughter – Creates home preservation for families who are financially impacted after having someone go through breast cancer or ovarian cancer.
  • Matthew’s Ministry – Provides food for children in need by filling backpacks for kids each weekend.
  • Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill – Equips the facility with necessary supplies to serve families from Columbus and Brunswick Counties whose children are receiving pediatric care at UNC hospital.
  • Save a Vet Now – Funds materials needed to expand outreach to veterans in the Cape Fear Region who are at risk for suicide.
  • South Brunswick Interchurch Council – Supports local food pantries that distribute food, diapers, and toiletries for residents in need.
  • Southport Lions Foundation – Furnishes eyeglasses and eye examinations for local children.
  • Takin’ It to the Streets – Provides school supplies, bookbags and personal care items for students in need.
  • Veteran’s Memorial Park of America – Furnishes benches and swings to be placed in the Veteran's Memorial Park in Whiteville.
  • Waccamaw Volunteer Fire & Rescue – Provides the station with an automated external defibrillator.
  •  WAVES 4 KIDS – Works to provide new book bags with school supplies for children in foster care.
