ATMC Awards $35,000 in Community Grants

Shallotte, NC - ATMC recently awarded Community Connections grant funds totaling $35,000 to 16 local organizations. The funds are part of the cooperative’s grant program, which has awarded $845,000 in community and education grants to 507 programs since its inception in 2006.

Michelle Ingram, ATMC’s Board Liaison for the 2021 ATMC Grant Committee, commended the recipients on their dedication to the community. “The committee has received outstanding feedback on the impact these grants have made by past recipients and we look forward to seeing how this year’s grants will make a difference in the communities we serve.”

2021 Grant Awards:  

  • Assistance League of Greater Wilmington — Assists Brunswick County Schools nurse offices with purchase of backpacks filled with wipes, hair ties, combs/brushes, feminine napkins, snack crackers, apple juice, Vaseline, and Chapstick.
  • Boiling Springs Lakes Fire & Rescue — Purchases accident scene lights for four of the station’s trucks. The lights will help first responders in accidents and emergencies to better visualize and assess the situation.
  • Brunswick Christian Recovery Center — Equips four workstations with desktop computers, keyboards and monitors for new women’s recovery program.
  • CR Resource Center, Inc. — Improves storage and food quality for Columbus County food pantry with purchase of new freezer and shelving units.
  • Going Beyond the Pink — Assists with care bags consisting of pillows, essential oils, skin care, oral hygiene products, and printed materials about breast cancer.
  • Hope Harbor Home, Inc. — Helps provide needed upgrades to the domestic abuse shelter.
  • J. Arthur Dosher Memorial Hospital Foundation — Assists approximately 250 individuals with food boxes that include nutritious foods through healthy selections.
  • James and Annie Community Food Pantry — Helps in the operation of opening a community food pantry in Columbus County to assist families in need.
  • Marine Corps League Detachment 1036 — Provides boxed dinners for three of Brunswick County’s low-income elementary schools at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.
  • Power Walking Ministries — Purchases new high-quality sneakers for Brunswick County students in need.
  • Quilts2Heal, Inc., North Carolina Chapter — Provides volunteers with fabric and supplies needed to complete quality quilts for those affected by recent hurricanes, tornadoes, or loss due to COVID-19.
  • Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill — Purchases three new A/C units for rooms that house children and families from Brunswick and Columbus Counties.
  • South Brunswick Interchurch Council– Provides food and necessities for a non-denominational food pantry serving residents of Brunswick County.
  • Takin’ It To The Streets — Assists with school supplies for Columbus County students.
  • Waterway Art Association — Donates art materials to all five Brunswick County high schools for student use.
  • WAVES 4 K.I.D.S. — Purchases book bags and school supplies to distribute to foster children under the supervision of Brunswick County Department of Social Services.
