MANAGER, OUTSIDE PLANT (OSP) ENGINEERING – DESIGN

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest telecommunications cooperative, is currently seeking a Manager, Outside Plant (OSP) Engineering - Design . ATMC is located along the beautiful Atlantic coast in Brunswick County, N.C., halfway between Wilmington, N.C. and Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Manager, Outside Plant Engineering (OSP) – Design manages and directs the OSP Engineering Design team involving wide area fiber networks, Fiber to the Home (FTTH) and broadband deployments, traditional copper and fiber communications network design in compliance with RUS specifications, Hybrid-Fiber Coaxial (HFC) cable television networks, and overall OSP network capacity planning. Provides Project Management and Quality Control of OSP Engineering design team related projects and activities, including those regarding Consulting Engineering and Contract Construction forces relative to large scale and ongoing internal and external projects. Reviews the designs, work plans, associated costs, and detailed drawings generated by OSP Engineers and outside Engineering Contractors regarding OSP Engineering Design of large commercial, large development, NCDOT rearrangement, FTTH, CATV system upgrade, fiber splice, broadband, data circuits, special circuits, wireless backhaul, line extension, reinforcement, regrade, OSP network planning, and special projects. Coordinates with GIS-CAD team regarding ongoing maintenance of OSP cable and equipment records, including Continuing Property Records (CPRs) and associated account codes, design, and work print files. Supervises cost study analysis for feasibility studies regarding project proposals as requested. Coordinates maintenance and administrative procedures with Engineering Director involving OSP related contracts such as RUS, Construction, Splicing, and Contract Engineering. Acquires real estate and implements new equipment site builds, including wide area planning, design, legal, and survey processes. Assists in reviewing new technologies and potential services and makes recommendations on engineering and design requirements, improvements, costs, and impacts

The Manager, OSP Engineering - Design reports to the Director of OSP Engineering.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of fiber telecommunication, twisted pair copper, and coaxial, OSP systems design, including voice-grade telephone service (POTS), Fiber to the Home (FTTH), Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) CATV, and broadband architectures including Very High Bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line (VDSL) and Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP). Must be knowledgeable in construction practices and engineering practices, principles, and specifications regarding each respective Outside Plant network system.
  • Ability to utilize CableCadCAD, NetDesigner/ESRI GIS mapping and database systems, LodeData, VISIO, XMAP, and other design, drafting, or mapping software. Working knowledge of AS400 system data (or other authorized ATMC Data Systems, including plant and customer records applications).
  • Skill in operating various PC software programs including Word, Excel Spreadsheet, Adobe Acrobat, various CAD/GIS specific software, and engineering equipment such as: measuring tapes, laser range finder, height measuring rods, measuring wheels, and GPS data collection units.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations affecting engineering projects and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of company products/services, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills and above average mathematical and problem-solving abilities.


Minimum Qualifications/Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or related field), minimum of 7 years OSP Engineering experience preferred, or a 2-year technical degree in an engineering discipline and a minimum of 15 years of equivalent practical and technical experience demonstrating a progressive career path of increasing OSP Engineering knowledge/skill levels, project management, and team management responsibilities, or a combination thereof.

IT COMPUTER USER SUPPORT SPECIALIST

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest telecommunications cooperative, is currently seeking a IT COMPUTER USER SUPPORT SPECIALIST . The IT Computer User Support Specialist provides technical assistance to computer users. Answers questions and resolves problems for clients in person, via telephone, or electronically. May provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, word processing, electronic mail, and operating systems.

The IT Computer User Support Specialist is responsible for the installation and configuration of new computers, printers, and other hardware peripherals. Maintains reliable documentation of computer and end user configurations. Attends project, team, and departmental meetings and interfaces with outside departments to design and build required IT infrastructure. Assists the director in developing and implementing security standards and other duties as assigned, including keeping up to date with current technologies.

The IT Computer User Support Specialist reports to the Director of Information Technology.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of principles and practices of personal computers, telecommunications, and information technology. Experience with Windows Desktop, Windows Server, OS/400, OS X, VMWare, and Linux. Networking experience. Ability to communicate technical information effectively. Knowledge of Active Directory. Knowledge of Exchange Server. Knowledge of networking and routing technologies and protocols, including DNS and DHCP. Working knowledge of computer hardware and software. PART-TIME CUSTOMER CARE REPRESENTATIVE (CCR)

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest telecommunications cooperative, is currently seeking a PART-TIME CUSTOMER CARE REPRESENTATIVE (CCR) . ATMC is located along the beautiful Atlantic coast in Brunswick County, N.C., halfway between Wilmington, N.C. and Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Part-Time Customer Care Representative (CCR) will work part-time at ATMC/ASC, LLC locations for up to 30 hours per week. The Part-Time CCR communicates effectively with new and existing customers by telephone and face-to-face interactions with customers; sells ATMC services and products; processes necessary paperwork for establishing new customer accounts; performs credit checks for new customers; accurately processes customer orders for new and upgraded services; and assists customers with billing questions while exhibiting a positive attitude and cheerful demeanor to deliver customer satisfaction.

This position reports to the Manager, Customer Care.

  • Regular and punctual attendance.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work various hours between 8AM and 6PM, Monday through Friday and overtime as necessary (subject to change).

CONSTRUCTION TECHNICIAN

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest telecommunications cooperative, is currently seeking a Construction Technician . ATMC is located along the beautiful Atlantic coast in Brunswick County, N.C., halfway between Wilmington, N.C. and Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Construction Technician operates equipment such as locators, trenchers, backhoes, and borers in burying cable plant and in burying service drops at customer locations. May operate other heavy equipment. Will use hand tools such as shovels, spades, rakes, etc. Responsible for routine care and scheduling maintenance of assigned equipment. Must safely and legally operate a truck with a trailer. This position reports to the Construction Manager.

Essential Job Functions:
  • May assist in burying of cable plant by operating trenchers, backhoes, borers, and other needed powered machinery.
  • May assist with burying service drops at customer locations using trenchers and other digging equipment.
  • Maintains powered equipment by performing and/or scheduling routine and emergency maintenance and repair.
  • Frequently uses hand tools such as shovels, spades, rakes, etc. to perform finishing work in confined areas.
  • May operate truck with trailer attached.
  • Locates ATMC facilities as needed.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by management.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of telephone plant and line construction process preferred.
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.

The Business Solutions Consultant (BSC) is responsible for ascertaining the communications needs of business clients and selling solutions to fulfill those needs. The BSC will be responsible for cultivating leads from business clients within a specified territory. Services include business class broadband, hosted voice services, cloud data solutions, business broadband, traditional voice services, business video service, business networking solutions, and more. The BSC must attain sales and revenue goals through successful prospecting for new customers and upselling existing customers. The BSC is responsible for generating all sales leads through a variety of prospecting tactics and working leads from initial contact through the sale and is responsible for the development and implementation of a Territory Plan to expand the customer base within his/her assigned territory.

The Business Solutions Consultant reports to the Business Solutions Manager.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Achieve sales and revenue quotas through the sale of ATMC services.
  • Develop and implement a cold calling strategy targeting serviceable and potentially serviceable business prospects; cold call every non-subscribing business within assigned territory a minimum of two times each year.
  • Maintain accurate records of all sales and prospecting activities, including sales calls, presentations, closed sales, and follow-up activities within assigned territory, including the use of Salesforce.com to maintain accurate records to maximize territory potential.
  • Design, develop, and present sales proposals and presentations on product benefits.

CATV TRUNK TECHNICIAN

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest telecommunications cooperative, is currently seeking a Catv Trunk Technician . ATMC is located along the beautiful Atlantic coast in Brunswick County, N.C., halfway between Wilmington, N.C. and Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The CATV Trunk Technician splices, terminates, and maintains CATV (cable television) cable, and mainline CATV equipment.

This position reports to the Splicing Manager, Outside Plant.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Splices terminals for new construction. Maintains and repairs new cable plant lines by opening and bonding lines.
  • Maintains cable system by testing to locate trouble, opening cable to repair or replace defective sections, and closing and sealing cable.
  • Adds new lines of service as directed by subscribers.
  • Installs and maintains CATV trunk cables and equipment such as nodes, power supplies, amps, and taps.
  • Mounts devices and protectors at customer premises and attaches individual house or service to main line cable.
  • Transfers customers’ service from one cable and/or terminal to another by using cut sheets and assigned information.
  • All other duties as deemed necessary.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by management.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of CATV construction and cable installation practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of analog and digital technology.
  • Knowledge of state and federal safety regulations.
  • Skill in operating service equipment including splicing materials, pedestals, marking materials, cable reel trailers and various hand tools and testing equipment.
  • Skill in reading cable schematics, and verification reports.

COMMUNICATION SERVICES (Installation & Repair) TECHNICIAN

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest telecommunications cooperative, is currently seeking a Communication Services (Installation & Repair) Technician . ATMC is located along the beautiful Atlantic coast in Brunswick County, N.C., halfway between Wilmington, N.C. and Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Communications Services Technician installs, maintains, and services telephone, cable television (CATV), fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP), broadband, DSL, and VDSL service and IPTV Triple Play services.

This position reports to the Manager, Communications Services.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Installs new services and equipment for subscribers by installing CAT 5 wiring, co-ax cable, aerial drop wire, fiber optic cables and related equipment, ground blocks, station protectors, network interface devices, CATV splitters, CATV amps, modems, routers, switches, HPNA bridges, CATV boxes, indoor and outdoor power supplies, ONTs, and MDUs.
  • Verifies Quality of Service by means of various test equipment, including, but not limited to: Laptops, JDSU V3 Meter, EXPO Meter, Sunrise Meter, Tempo Sidekick, Cable Scout, Dynatel Locator, Fiber Light Meter, Volt/OHM, and Data Safe Test Sets.
  • Wires new services using various power tools, hand tools, and equipment.
  • Maintains and repairs existing services and equipment.
  • Maintains accurate plant records and forms, including customer billing sheets and daily inventory.
  • Utilizes smartphone and laptop to complete work and document test results.
  • Confers with customers to determine problems and acceptable resolutions and provides extensive training on all services provided.
  • Promotes and offers all other services provided by ATMC.
  • Provides exceptional customer service and efficiency in all services offered.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by management.

OUTSIDE PLANT (OSP) ENGINEER

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest telecommunications cooperative, is currently seeking a full-time Outside Plant (OSP) Engineer. ATMC is located along the beautiful Atlantic coast in Brunswick County, N.C., halfway between Wilmington, N.C. and Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The OSP Engineer is responsible for engineering design and planning assistance for expansion, redesign, or reinforcement of outside plant facilities for ATMC’s service area and for issuing complete work orders including distribution, cutsheets, and all necessary permits to the construction department. Designs and prepares work plans and detailed drawings for residential (private or large scale development), commercial, and office projects. Utilizes working knowledge of copper, fiber, and coaxial communications system outside plant network design and uses computer aided design (CAD), ESRI, NetDesigner, GIS mapping and data collection, Windows Office, LodeData software, and AS400 system plant data or other authorized ATMC systems plant data applications to prepare layouts and detail drawings or provide data relevant to various project requirements. Creates draft sketches and notes from on-site field surveys which are used to prepare detailed final working plans and complete drawings for work orders, projects, or estimates. Develops and maintains a filing system for copies of engineering drawings, including related materials and records.

The OSP Engineer reports to the Manager, Outside Plant Engineering- Design.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum two-year technical degree in an Engineering discipline, equivalent training/certification in Telecommunications OSP Engineering, or 3 years OSP Engineering work experience.
  • Knowledge of computer-aided drafting and GIS mapping software and data collection, principles, and practices.
  • Ability to utilize CableCAD, NetDesigner, ArcMap ESRI GIS, LodeData, Visio, XMAP and other design, drafting, or mapping software.
  • Knowledge of twisted pair copper and fiber telecommunication systems, including fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and hybrid-fiber coax (HFC) CATV systems construction, engineering practices and principles, and their respective outside plant network designs.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations affecting engineering projects.
