OUTSIDE PLANT (OSP) ENGINEER, STAKING

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest telecommunications cooperative, is currently seeking a Outside Plant (OSP) Engineer, Staking . ATMC is located along the beautiful Atlantic coast in Brunswick County, N.C., halfway between Wilmington, N.C. and Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The OSP Engineer, Staking is responsible for engineering design and planning assistance for expansion, redesign, or reinforcement of outside plant facilities for ATMC’s service area and for issuing complete work orders including distribution, cutsheets, and all necessary permits to the construction department. Designs and prepares work plans and detailed drawings for residential (private or large scale development), commercial, and office projects. Utilizes working knowledge of copper, fiber, and coaxial communications system outside plant network design and uses computer aided design (CAD), ESRI, NetDesigner, GIS mapping and data collection, Windows Office, LodeData software, and AS400 system plant data or other authorized ATMC systems plant data applications to prepare layouts and detail drawings or provide data relevant to various project requirements. Creates draft sketches and notes from on-site field surveys which are used to prepare detailed final working plans and complete drawings for work orders, projects, or estimates. Develops and maintains a filing system for copies of engineering drawings, including related materials and records.

The OSP Engineer, Staking reports to the Manager, Outside Plant Engineering- Staking.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum two-year technical degree in an Engineering discipline or 4 years OSP Engineering work experience.
  • Knowledge of computer-aided drafting and GIS mapping software and data collection, principles, and practices.
  • Ability to utilize CableCAD, NetDesigner, ArcMap ESRI GIS, LodeData, Visio, XMAP and other design, drafting, or mapping software.
  • Knowledge of twisted pair copper and fiber telecommunication systems, including fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and hybrid-fiber coax (HFC) CATV systems construction, engineering practices and principles, and their respective outside plant network designs.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations affecting engineering projects.

COMMUNICATION SERVICES (Installation & Repair) TECHNICIAN

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest telecommunications cooperative, is currently seeking a Communication Services (Installation & Repair) Technician . ATMC is located along the beautiful Atlantic coast in Brunswick County, N.C., halfway between Wilmington, N.C. and Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Communications Services Technician installs, maintains, and services telephone, cable television (CATV), fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP), broadband, DSL, and VDSL service and IPTV Triple Play services.

This position reports to the Manager, Communications Services.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Installs new services and equipment for subscribers by installing CAT 5 wiring, co-ax cable, aerial drop wire, fiber optic cables and related equipment, ground blocks, station protectors, network interface devices, CATV splitters, CATV amps, modems, routers, switches, HPNA bridges, CATV boxes, indoor and outdoor power supplies, ONTs, and MDUs.
  • Verifies Quality of Service by means of various test equipment, including, but not limited to: Laptops, JDSU V3 Meter, EXPO Meter, Sunrise Meter, Tempo Sidekick, Cable Scout, Dynatel Locator, Fiber Light Meter, Volt/OHM, and Data Safe Test Sets.
  • Wires new services using various power tools, hand tools, and equipment.
  • Maintains and repairs existing services and equipment.
  • Maintains accurate plant records and forms, including customer billing sheets and daily inventory.
  • Utilizes smartphone and laptop to complete work and document test results.
  • Confers with customers to determine problems and acceptable resolutions and provides extensive training on all services provided.
  • Promotes and offers all other services provided by ATMC.
  • Provides exceptional customer service and efficiency in all services offered.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge and understanding of internet/networking and data communications fundamentals (e.g. protocols, standards).
  • Working knowledge and understanding of telecommunications.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions using information at hand.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to function effectively as a team player.
  • Ability to lift minimum of 60 pounds.
  • Ability to report to work regularly and punctually.
  • Ability to work overtime both with and without notice as necessary.
  • Ability to be on call and work on weekends and holidays.
  • Ability and history of working safely.
  • Ability to work both in and out-of-doors in various weather conditions.
  • Proficiency in computer use.
Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree in a technical field.
  • Telecom and Network Data Certifications.
  • Hands-on work experience in technical fields such as electrical/electronics, computer, telecommunications (voice/video/data).
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

COMMUNICATION SERVICES LEVEL II TECHNICIAN

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest telecommunications cooperative, is currently seeking a Communication Services Level II Technician . ATMC is located along the beautiful Atlantic coast in Brunswick County, N.C., halfway between Wilmington, N.C. and Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Communication Services Level II Technician will work in the Communications Services Control Center, which consists of the Broadband Level II Technical Support, Installation, Repair, and Assignment departments. Duties consist of processing service orders, dispatching trouble reports, dispatching work orders, receiving incoming customer trouble calls and troubleshooting each repair call before dispatching, incoming work completion calls, entering information into ATMC’s trouble management system using a personal computer, and assigning all service related orders. Level II is responsible for providing laptop/desktop/server/wireless support to ATMC customers over the phone. Regular repair work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. On-call work hours are 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. However, the Level II on-call technician provides monitoring from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM in one-week increments. When working on Saturday, the Level II Technician takes a day off during the workweek prior to that Saturday if workload permits. Schedules are subject to change.

The Communication Services Level II Technician reports to the Manager, Communications Specialists.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Receive customer requests by telephone and/or email escalations regarding DOCSIS, IPTV, VDSL & ADSL
  • Proficiency in ATMC’s Work Management system, assign work tickets to repair technicians and/or appropriate departments
  • Assist customers to further determine problems and acceptable resolutions
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize customer issues
  • Troubleshoot calls with the customer regarding technical support issues for all ATMC Broadband customers
  • Provide support for ATMC webmail/email
  • Provide support for ATMC watchTVeverywhere
  • Review, process, and close service orders from various ATMC departments
  • Pay special attention to maintain and provide the most current, accurate, and detailed plant records
  • Disabling and Enabling of the DSLAM from ASGNDSL routing
  • Capable of administering Office Tracker schedule and assignment functions
  • Update daily ticket summary email when on call
  • Set up modems for walk-in customers at other offices
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows 7-10, Networking Hardware, and Topologies
  • PC hardware (laptops and desktops), printers, routers, computer peripherals, Ethernet, TCP/IP, DSL, switches, remote desktop/terminal server clients
  • Support managed wireless networks
  • Diagnose bad DSLAM ports and inform Managed Services
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by management
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge and understanding of ATMC policies and procedures
  • Understanding of common telephone, CATV, FTTP (Fiber-to-the-Premises), Broadband, IPTV, VDSL, and DOCSIS problems and steps to resolution
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of ATMC products and services
  • Understanding of ATMC Trouble Management Reporting fundamentals, CRM, Work Management, CMS, Clear Vision, Compass, Cisco Remote Access, ETI, and any other ATMC programs
  • Understanding of ISAT tool fundamentals
  • Understanding of broadband services

  • Understanding of telephone use and procedures
  • Basic knowledge of various costs associated with repairs and installation
  • Understanding of ATMC service order fundamentals

  • Knowledge of CPNI policies and procedures
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment with distractions (Multitasking is an absolute necessity)

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest telecommunications cooperative, is currently seeking a full-time Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst.. ATMC is located along the beautiful Atlantic coast in Brunswick County, N.C., halfway between Wilmington, N.C. and Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The GIS Analyst prepares, designs, analyzes, maintains, and performs geospatial analysis and develops user-focused geospatial solutions for Outside Plant Engineering’s GIS Department regarding the ATMC (Atlantic Telephone Membership Corporation) communications infrastructure, including integrated customer and operations data in a fast-paced, productive environment. Candidates for this position are required to have overall knowledge of GIS and have strong knowledge of ESRI’s ArcMap in particular.

Minimum Qualifications/Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geography, or other related fields of study with a GIS concentration, or minimum 5 years’ experience in an aggressive GIS analytical role. Prefer GISP certification.
  • Must maintain a good driving record and a valid driver’s license.

FINANCIAL SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE, LEVEL I, PART-TIME

ATMC, North Carolina’s largest telecommunications cooperative, is currently seeking a Financial Services Representative, Level I. ATMC is located along the beautiful Atlantic coast in Brunswick County, N.C., halfway between Wilmington, N.C. and Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Financial Services Representative, Level I, is responsible for performing billing and collections functions, reconciling billing and collections data, adjusting and reconciling members’ equity, and assisting with activities associated with members’ annual meeting. This is currently a part-time position, but the person in this role must be able to transition to a full-time role and schedule if needed.

The Financial Services Representative, Level I, reports to the Manager, Financial Services.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of company policies and procedures related to the privacy of company and customer data.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of company policies and standards regarding customer interactions in-person, via electronic means and on the telephone.
  • Consistently demonstrate skill in both oral and written communications with good grammar and telephone voice clarity.

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of policies and procedures for company vehicle use.

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of company policies and procedures for distribution of mail received by the company.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of company policies and procedures and regulatory requirements related to acceptance, proper handling, posting and depositing of customer payments.

  • Attend all required training, as directed by management.


Job Tasks Include:
  • Verifying membership status, voting eligibility of individuals, and registering eligible members for ATMC’s annual meeting.
  • Processing billing address changes.
  • Processing service orders to make changes to accounts.
  • Processing member address changes.
  • Preparing report of uncollectible debt.
  • Reviewing capital credit checks and requesting the reissue of outstanding checks.
  • Greeting and check-in of visitors.
  • Logging vehicle reservations, pick-ups, and returns.
  • Answering incoming calls to company switchboard, forwarding calls to proper ATMC personnel, deliver messages when called party cannot be reached.
  • Sorting and distributing company mail.
  • Reviewing and taking needed action on all mail returned by the U.S. Postal Service.
  • Scanning, storing, and maintaining document records.
  • Preparing and delivering various customer notification letters.
  • Processing and posting payments to customer accounts.
  • Preparing daily bank deposit.
  • Preparing customer past due notices.
  • Preparing collections letters.
  • Reconciling daily payments batch.
  • Others as directed by management.


Minimum Qualifications/Education and Experience:
  • Ability to transition to full-time role required.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Experience in telecommunications industry preferred.
  • Experience with cooperatives preferred.
